We are the Wivenhoe Community Rowing Club (aka the Wivenhoe Corsairs), offering social rowing & competitive racing to the community of Wivenhoe, Essex, in our wooden Harker’s Yard gig "Defiance".

In support of the 2020 Poppy Appeal and the Royal British Legion, we will be undertaking a 3hr coastal row down the Colne Estuary where we will then row in the shape of a poppy, followed by wreath laying ceremony in remembrance, before rowing back to our home port of Wivenhoe as the sun goes down.

Our crew for the row will be members of the Corsairs with close connections to the Armed Forces, either through relatives or as veterans. We will be sharing our GPS track online for all to follow and if technology permits, we will also attempt to live-stream our actual poppy-shaped row around the estuary, once we are on location.
