Wheldrake and Dunnington U11's Charity Match and Family Fun Day · 13 October 2019

OSCAR's PBTC was set up in memory of Oscar Hughes, a 9-year-old who died of a brain tumour in 2014. His journey was heartbreaking yet inspiring. OSCAR's aims to provide support and care to children with brain tumours, raise awareness to help diagnosis and fund research into better treatments.

Story

Many of you will know that Wheldrake Juniors player (and Dunnington FC player) Lucas Hughes is the brother of Oscar, a young boy aged 9, who sadly died of a brain tumour in May 2014 following an illness during which he raised thousands of pounds to fund research.

In his memory, Oscar’s parents continued to fundraise and OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity continues to raise tens of thousands of pounds each year to research this horrible disease.

Both football teams are close-knit and so it’s been a shock to discover that Lucas’s dad, Ian, is now suffering with a brain tumour. We want to do something positive to raise money for Oscar’s Research Fund and what better way than by playing football and generally having fun.

We will be having a mini Wheldrake v Dunnington tournament on Sunday 13th October and this Justgiving page is where we will take entry fees for each player, and any additional donations people may wish to make.

There will be other activities happening on the day including inflatable obstacle course, beat-the-goalie games as well as food and drink…all at modest cost. Invite your family and friends – the more the merrier.

Thank you for showing your support for this event, and for Ian and Lucas. Now, let’s have a great day!
