West Malling Community Choir Quiz 3

West Malling Community Choir Quiz 3 · 27 November 2020
In April 2019 West Malling Community Choir were privileged to be one of the supporting choirs for the fabulous Music Man Project students at their debut performance at the Royal Albert Hall. As a choir we have performed in a great deal of concerts, but this one really touched our hearts and lives in a very humbling way. It was a truly inspirational and unforgettable night. Since then we have developed strong links with our local Music Man Project (Kent/Medway), performing again with them in Autumn 2019 'Join Together' concert. Once again, a wonderful celebration of music making and a chance to revisit some songs from the Royal Albert Hall concert.
The Music Man Project (Kent/Medway), part of the Music Man Project UK, is an inclusive music education service specifically for people with learning disabilities, offering inspirational opportunities for singing, playing and performing together.
Sadly, like so many others MMP Kent were forced to cancel all sessions and activities (including a number of fundraising concerts and events) in March due to the pandemic, and this, coupled with the fact that they have had to find new premises to enable them to socially distance adequately and the need to limit group sizes to a maximum of 12, has had a massive knock on effect.
Sarah, Director of the project writes: "Covid-19.... Less clients = Less income; More sessions = More expenses - it's not a great equation! But, despite these financial challenges and the fact that we are now running at a considerable loss each week, we felt it was important to resume our service as we know that it is such a lifeline for so many; the only time in the week that they go out, see friends and do something familiar that they enjoy."
"If you were able to contribute toward our rent costs this would be fabulous, it would make an immense difference to us and ensure that we are able to sustain the project going forwards. Andy, Sue and I are extremely grateful for your continued interest and support."
