Wobble 2 Chernobyl · 7 April 2018

We are volunteers who respond to 999 calls in the local area, working with the local ambulance service, to provide pre-hospital care, assessment and treatment, in advance of the arrival of the ambulance. We are dispatched at the same time as an ambulance, but can often arrive sooner due to locality.

Story

In April 2018, Martin, Gary and Steve plan to drive all the way to Chernobyl in the Ukraine, in a 15 year old Vauxhall Corsa that we bought for just £250.

Our journey will take us from the UK, through France, Belgium, Germany, Poland to the Ukraine. We'll then travel back through Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and France back to the UK. We aim to drive around 4,000 miles over 5 days.

When we bought the car, it had no MOT and a broken engine. With virtually no skill and finesse, we have managed to get it running and MOTd. Whilst the little 1.2 engine is not the most refined motor in the world, we are 100% confident that we will either make it... or we'll break down in a cloud of steam.

We are raising funds for the First Responders, whose volunteers provide vital life saving services to the community. All of the costs of our trip are being self-funded, so every penny raised will go directly to the charity.

We are fortunate to have secured sponsorship from a number of generous businesses, including Bank Top Garage... Blue Cube Logistics Solutions and Warehouse Management Software... Clarity & Success Software... Stan Robinson National Haulier, Distribution, Warehouse & Stock Management... Lily & Loaf Health and Beauty... Regent House Design & Development... Phil Dolloway Construction... Morey Electrical Services... Nick Bundy Electrical... and Gnosall Bakery.

You can follow our progress as we prepare for the trip, and during the trip itself, at www.facebook.com/wobble2chernobyl

Thanks for your support.
