Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page from Debbie, Liz, Justine & Parish Wharf Spinners 😉
In June 2016, Debbie, Justine & Liz, will be cycling from Tanzania to the Ngorongoro Crater. We will be covering a distance of just over 350k on mainly desert tracks and in the sweltering heat. We will also be climbing over 3,000 feet. We are being joined on the journey by 50 other crazy ladies some of them who have not been on a bike for a while but with enough training and determination we will complete the challenge..... as long as we stay away from the lions ! 🐯Why you may ask ? 😂
Debbie I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2012. I am the 5th member of my family to be diagnosed with the disease. My Mum was diagnosed when she was 49 she survived but unfortunately went on to develop secondary cancer and she sadly passed away at the age of 71. She was such a strong lady and I miss her so much. The support we have now was not available when my mum was first diagnosed and so I am determined to give something back to all of those people who have supported me throughout my ordeal.
Liz My Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 50, she had an immediate masectomy and I'm very happy to say is still with us at 73. My lovely partner Martin fought cancer for four years but tragically died much too young. It was horrendous to watch and hard to move on from, so I just want to do my little bit to help in the battle against this evil disease.
Justine Next year will be the year I celebrate my 50th, an age that my own grandmother never reached, she died of cervical cancer before I was born and when my own Mum was only 18. More heartache struck again when my Mum lost both her younger and older sister to breast cancer. I feel that rather than have a party or lots of gifts, I would like friends & family to help me raise funds to help these 3 charities. Cancer affects us all, let's help support those who have it and those who are working to beat it.
