Story

4 Women, 3 Peaks, 2 Challenges, 1 Worthy Cause

Walking and hiking in the countryside with friends is a wonderful pastime: energising, great fun, good for the heart
and soul. However, a few months ago, we decided it was time to get something more out of our hobby and to channel our efforts towards a very worthwhile cause.

Our irregular walks became regular training hikes, as we braved the elements through wind, rain and snow, up (and down) the steep, rocky terrain of the Peak District National Park.

On 16/17
th May, our intrepid team of four: Jo Bernstein, Sam Bernstein, Julie Besbrode and Tanya Farley will be attempting the National 3 Peaks Challenge - climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales all within 24 hours. And to get us fit and focussed on the National 3 Peaks, we are preparing ourselves with a training hike on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on 28th April.

As the 4 of us stride through these 2 challenges we are hoping that our efforts will benefit the
Together Trust – a small local charity, close to our hearts.

The
Together Trust provides care, education and support for those experiencing emotional, physical and learning disabilities and autism.

It
runs Ashcroft School for people with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties; Inscape House School for pupils with autism; Bridge College, for people with learning difficulties and disabilities, complex needs, communication disorders and autism and Meridian, a house which provides short breaks for people with autism.

In addition it operates a fostering agency and has a range of other care services including residential homes, community care and support services.

James Farley
, Tanya’s 15 year old son, has been accessing the Together Trust’s services for several years, providing his family with much needed support.

The Trust is always in need of additional funds to sustain the invaluable services which it provides.

Please give what you can and help us reach (or even exceed!) our fundraising target. We are covering all the costs of our challenges ourselves so everything you donate will go directly to the Together Trust.
