Carmela has the help this year to tackle Stage one 170miles but not just with her and mummy but Emily, Lottie and Ruby and of course Tinker the Wonder Dog, who will be helping to clock up the mileage so Carmela doesn't experience too much strain on her weak body causing dizziness, sickness and pain.

Carmela absolutely loves Wonder Woman and only last year Carmela took on 300km in 30 days dressed as her hero but it really did take it out of her with some days being in pain and suffering with vertigo sickness due to her spine curvatures and strain on her weak muscles.

We would like to run the challenge again but with the help of teams to see if we can raise thousands towards medical research to help give these children hope of a future or even just a treatment to slow the progression down.

Carmela's rare progressive disease is called LMNA Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, affecting only around 1 in a million. The severities vary amongst each individual with some born dependent on breathing aids and unable to sit or walk or use their arms effectively, whilst others lose these some years after birth. Most individuals suffer with joint contractures and spine deformities and some unfortunately lose their lives before their an adult due to heart and respiratory complications. Carmela will lose the ability to walk in some years to come so this challenge means alot to her and us as a family.

Mutations on the LMNA gene can present as one of four types of LMNA related disorders:

The aim is to help spread awareness and fundraise towards research in to a treatment or cure to help us have hope of a future.

We have helped fund 2 medical research projects with the help of followers, friends and family and hoping that research in to the LMNA gene will help all 4 types above have a treatment or even a cure.

The challenge starts 1st September for the whole 30 days of the month. The 1500 miles is the total it takes from Carmela's home county to where they filmed Wonder Woman in South Italy.  There are 4 stages to choose from which needs to be completed in 30 days. You can decide to either walk, run, cycle, swim and or push.
