Story

The Workhouse Est Community group was setup during the 2020 COVID pandemic by the residents of Abbott Rd, Theisiger Rd & Oxford Rd to provide support to the Community of Abingdon. Very quickly an amazing community came into action.  A true workforce similar to that of the old Abingdon workhouse was established, sewing, baking, delivering . We have raised donations in return for our support and now we would like to support Helen & Douglas House Via their Advent Windows Campaign.

Your fundraising will be helping families like Romans. In March 2019, when he was only a few days old, twin Roman was given just weeks to live. Helen & Douglas House cared for Roman at their hospice for a few weeks until he was able to go home with his family for the first time. Their community nurses visited regularly and the family were able to spend Christmas together at home. In January 2020 Roman died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, which is when their bereavement support team provided his family with a lifeline of support. Your donation enables Helen & Douglas House to continue to support the children and families who need them this Christmas.
