VICTORIA PARK 5K, 10K & HALF MARATHON MARCH 2022 · 13 March 2022

Working Well Trust was founded in 1992 to address the issue of low employment rates for people who have experienced mental health issues. In the last few years we have adapted this approach to work with people with Autism (ASD), people with learning difficulties, or complex issues including homelessness or addiction. We have developed the following areas of activities: Employment Support – we believe that everyone who wants to work can do so if they are offered the right support for them. Our employment services offer support that meets the individual’s needs using both the traditional stepped approach and the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model. Employer support – this includes supporting employers to recruit staff and to support them to retain staff. Social Enterprises – we offer training within social enterprises for people who want to gain a new skill, increase their confidence and be part of a team. This training can be part of a client’s recovery plan. Clients accessing these services can also access employment support at the same time. Business and Enterprise support – providing one to one advice to clients who wish to start up or expand an enterprise. Support is also offered to self-user groups. Co-production - Working Well remains committed to the principles of the recovery model and continuously improve its services through co-production.

Story

The why:

You want to apply for a job that has good prospects, steady employment and room to grow. However, the job requires a
course or qualification to start it, a course that is not covered by government or council funding and you are unable to cover the cost yourself.

At Working Well Trust we work with our clients on an individual basis to help them find jobs that will support and suit each one. Which is why it is frustrating when opportunities are closed to us by lack of access to short courses and qualifications that can unlock industry or sector progression.

This is why Working Well Trust is running to raise funds to provide vocation focused short courses and qualifications for clients. These small courses and certificates do not receive government or council funding but can be vital in clients accessing sectors and careers that they want to pursue. These include coding courses, food safety qualifications, and Security Industry Authority (SIA) licenses.

How will the money be spent?

Courses and qualifications will have to
meet the following criteria:

1) Short course or qualification (under 6 months)

2) Sector Specific

3) Fulfilling a defined employment goal and offering career progression

4) No free alternative and no other funding offered
