Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I wanted to start off by saying a huge thank everyone who joined in, and wore some pink on the penultimate Wednesday of last half term, it was great to see so much of the Worth community getting involved and supporting.
A couple of facts for you about breast cancer:
A woman born after 1960 and living in the UK has an estimated 1 in 7 lifetime risk of developing breast cancer
A UK man’s lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is around 1 in 870
As shown in the above stats, Breast cancer is more common in women than men, but a common misconception is that men don't get breast cancer.
However, we can all be part of the change to help erase these misconceptions and spread awareness. Education on the subject is really important and I would urge you to make yourself more aware of what can happen to you and others by visiting Breast Cancer Now's website (https://breastcancernow.org) where you will find educational and informative articles about the disease as well as what the money raised will help go towards.
In order to raise some awareness and funds, we are holding a charity event on 24th November where you will see Worth staff take on the 6th form in a charity hockey match.
Key details of the event:
- Thursday 24th November
- 6-7pm
- Worth Astroturf
We encourage you to bring along your family and friends to support and to add a touch of something pink to your outfit… and yes, even crocs count ( in sport mode only please!)
Thank you!
Bea 😊
