Fire Fighters Charity provides care and support to the UK’s fire family. It helps with any health and wellbeing challenges firefighters, control staff, and everyone working in – or retired from – the UK’s fire services, as well as their families, may face - during and after service

Story

As a Retained Firefighter for just over 2 years now with Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service I can certainly say it is one of my greatest achievements to date. You ask anyone that knows me well, the passion I have for the job is second to none. Only those who are in the Service can relate to the adrenaline rush when that pager goes off at stupid o'clock in the morning! Forget making plans with loved ones. Those children's birthday's, nope forget it. Christmas lunch.. don't even bother. As soon as you sit down it's going off again.

Believe it or not, we don't just do it for the uniform and to ride the big red truck. We do it because we want to help people. The question is though, who is there to help us, the Fire Service when things go wrong? That's when The Firefighters Charity step in.

At our station we know first hand the effects this job can have on people. Take Mark Schofield our Watch Manager's story for example -

It might not be now, it might not be 6 months, it might not even be 5 years but eventually it will catch up with you and that's when we need someone to turn too. The Firefighters Charity support this.

Please have a look for yourself first hand what the Charity offers.

Thank you for supporting this fantastic cause.

I will 'hopefully' see you at the finish line!
