In 2017 Graham Hughes International Charity (GHIC) was set up by a group of expert doctors and researchers from around the world. GHIC has 3 aims: - Educating patients, doctors and anyone else affected by Hughes Syndrome. - Raising awareness - Research GHIC is 100% reliant on your donations.

Story

We are a group of residents (spanning 9 decades) who live in the Avenue Grounds in St Margarets.  We were all devastated to lose one of our own very suddenly on 24th April during the coronavirus lockdown.

Lynn Faulds Wood was a force to be reckoned with and much loved. We decided that it would be nice to do something positive and channel our energy and sadness towards walking and running during the month of May, partly as a personal challenge but also as an opportunity to remember Lynn.

We are aiming to walk/run 1000 miles (it could be more!) in May between us.  We all have our own personal goals and stories.  Why 1000 miles? Well, Lynn was very fond of the Proclaimers song - I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more! So this seemed very appropriate.

We are raising money for the Graham Hughes International Charity.  Lynn suffered from APS which is also known as Hughes Syndrome.  She was personally acquainted with Graham Hughes and she would have been very happy to have known that any money we raise in our challenge will go towards this Charity.
