Story

Hero. Legend. Inspiration.

For anyone who knows Jimmy Kacamer those are three words that sum him up perfectly. A larger than life character who leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets. And somebody who needs our help in raising some money for a really important cause.

Jimmy is currently fighting leukaemia for the second time around and is undergoing treatment at Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea. What they’ve done for Jimmy in a short space of time is incredible. As well as supporting him with Chemo treatments they’ve got him a transplant from Israel, helped him with septic blood and liver failure and got him onto a clinical trial. The nurses even met Jimmy’s request for Haagen Daaz when the chemo had knackered his taste buds so badly that he couldn't eat anything else. Which is probably down to Jimmy flirting with the nurses on an hourly basis! Jimmy knows where his bread is buttered though and with the hospital's help Emily and Jimmy were able to organise a wedding at short notice - including getting a wedding dress for Emily from a local dress shop at no cost. So as you can see, the love, care and attention they’re showing for Jimmy knows no bounds.

As those fortunate enough to get to know Jimmy from our days at Roehampton University we wanted to do something to acknowledge our legendary friend's fight and with his blessing, we will be running around Richmond Park dressed as wrestlers to raise money for the Royal Marsden. Yep that's 25 unfit 30-something blokes, dressed in pants, Lycra and other questionable attire, jogging, suplexing and body slamming their way around a 10k route. Jimmy is a big wrestling fan (and by that we mean watching oiled up men in pants) so we thought this would be a fitting way of raising some money for a fantastic cause, whilst embarrassing ourselves.

The wrestlers run will commence on Saturday 22nd October at 12pm. It will start at Froebel campus, Roehampton University, taking us through and around Richmond park before returning to the campus at the end of the route. We are encouraging friends and family to come and show their support on the day and the bar will have food and drinks available. It would be great to have some support and help encourage us to get all the way round without passing out!

If anyone else who knows Jimmy wants to get involved you are more than welcome to, it's a case of more the merrier, so please drop an email to joe.williams@hotmail.co.uk

Please give generously for an incredible person being treated by an incredible
team. Let's help the people doing all they can to help our dear mate Jimmy.
