Charity Night · 1 October 2016

Awyr Las (Blue Sky) is the North Wales NHS Charity. Through the charity you can support the specific hospital wards, departments or community healthcare services that are closest to your heart. Your support helps fund added extras which the NHS in North Wales cannot provide.

Story

First off, why am I doing this fundraiser and event?

Well , as you can see from the name 'Support for Wrexham Mealor Renal Unit and Shooting Star Cancer Unit', the money we make on here and from the event on the 1st of October (See Facebook Page) will be split between the two units.

The reason for choosing the specific units are about what they mean for me and my family and friends.

After being on dialysis from 13-18 in Alder Hey , I was (and still) looked after by the renal team at Wrexham Maelor and was on dialysis there from 18-20, then i was lucky enough to get a transplant.

I also meet a lot of people whilst on the unit and know how many people benefit every day. My cousin Colleen has also benefited from the renal team over the last few years and last year received a kidney from her Brother Stephen.

The Shooting Star Cancer Unit will get the other 50% of the money raised. This unit, I am sure means a great deal to a lot of family's and is a great cause. My Nain (Welsh For Gran) was a patient on the unit last year, needing chemotherapy. The staff where great and helped her loads and are a deserving cause.

Im sure anyone who has had to use these units, whether for themselves or a family member will agree that they are a worthy cause and agree the 'Every Penny Counts'
