3 Peaks Challenge · 15 July 2022 to 17 July 2022 ·
On July 15th 2022 I'm joining my best mate Russ on his next challenge, to do the UK 3 peaks in 24hrs to honour his wife Deb. Please spare what you can to help raise money to also honour her and help fight this terrible disease, that took her way too young at 48.
Deb was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 bowel cancer during lockdown in May 2020! Being told there was nothing that could be done surgically chemo was her only option & even with that she only had 18-24 months, without it only 6. With two young kids 7 & 5 at the time & a global pandemic meaning diagnosis & treatment on her own without anyone to hold her hand, give her a hug, it couldn’t really have been worse for her, Russ and their kids.
On 17th December 2021 she was taken into hospital with a suspected blood clot on her lung. I had the privilege of helping to take her 2 brave children to see their amazing mummy in hospital, for what turned out to be the last time. To see her sitting up in bed smiling and sharing her fish and chips with them was incredible to see. I got to hug her goodbye and I'll remember that forever, she was incredible.
Early the next morning we got the worst news, that we had lost Debs. She fought her cancer with incredible resilience and from my point of view cancer DID NOT beat her.
