In 2018....my best friend, my superhero, my father Graeme Jupp, passed away sadly, from terminal cancer...
We found out he had it in January, and then he sadly passed away on July the 4th, which is ironically Independence Day.
Now, this year, 2019, I want to step up to the plate and do something for my dad, in memory and dedication of this great man, this hero, and this is going to result in me going to Atlanta in America November the 16th to do a 24 hour race, an obstacle race, and that is called World's Toughest Mudder. A 24-hour hardcore version of Tough Mudder.
I'm doing this for cancer research, and you know, this is so important to me, and I have been looking at mental health on a totally different level this year.
World's Toughest Mudder has been something I have always wanted to do, one of the tasks on my bucket list in fact but I have never had the courage to do so until now.
Life is just too short and just like the picture in the video description of a hot air balloon flying away, it is time for me to set my wings and let go of things, and break free, and really go for it, and just try and be more happy and improve my self-worth, because I can get low sometimes for obvious reasons with grieving, even when I am actually doing well.
On this adventure, I can't think of anybody better to do this with me than my wing-man, Ian Berry.
So as he is one of my best and closest friends, having done many other challenges with me in the past, Ian is coming with me and he's going to rock out on the course with me as well, and we're both raising money for cancer research
We are hoping to get at least 50 miles but due to extreme random conditions that await us, our biggest achievement will be just to survive the 24 hours.
Anyone up to 75+ miles would be amazing, but just like my health, just like my dad, I'm not going to take anything for granted anymore, so let's just see what happens on the day.
So with that, I need you guys to help us motivated, because it's quite hard to grind workouts out all the time when you're feeling a bit blue or feeling so fatigued, which we often do at the best of times. It's one mentally and physically demanding slog for the year.
That's why if you send either us a donation, via the link below, or the link wherever the link is, this will give us more purpose and help keep us on the days where we feel like shit.
We know there's going to be ups and downs, we know there's going to be good days, we know there's going to be bad days, but if you guys support Ian and I... we will step up more, never give up and we will get the job done.
And this is not about me. Nor Ian. This for my father and anyone else who has lost someone dearly to Cancer. Someone who got taken away from us far too young....
So with that, I can assure you that we'll know, when we are in America on the road, we'll have you guys, knowing that you've got our back, and we're going to have one hell of a party when we conduct business in Atlanta, in the World's Toughest Mudder, 2019. Peace out, thanks for reading and don't forget to leave a donation below
P.S
Any donations or help would be HUGELY APPRECIATED so if you have any ideas for some fundraising to help us please do get in touch via Facebook (search Matt Jupp or Ian Berry) or at info@synergyphitness.com
Much love and thanks for your time reading my story.
