Story

Hello.

I shouldn't be doing a marathon. I have the knees of a 90 year old. I've been banned from sport by three separate surgeons and advised I needed a knee replacement five years ago.

So why am I am doing it? I'm doing it for an amazing charity that I believe in. I believe in Samaritans. I believe our volunteers make a difference to people who are going through crisis, trauma, depression and all manner of other things that could happen to any one of us at any time.

By being there to give people the time and space to be heard, to explore people's feelings without judgement or telling them what they should do, I believe, I know, Samaritans save lives.

In Central London alone we take over 100,000 calls a year from people who have nowhere else to turn.

I can't be on the phones to help people like this at the moment, many of you won't be able to either but I need your support to help me raise money to make sure our volunteers can be there, round the clock, every single day of the year.

In return, my gift to you for your support... I will not only complete a marathon with my arthritic joints. I will make my myself look utterly ridiculous by undertaking a W W W DOT challenge...

Wig - Help me raise £1,000 and I'll do it in a silly Wig.

Wedding dress - Help me raise £2,000 and I'll do it in a Wedding dress.

Wax - Help me raise £3,000 and I'll have a full body Wax before donning the dress.

DOT - Help me raise £6,000 and I'll do my absolute utmost to do it in  4hours on the DOT.

This WILL be my last ever marathon, so I will never ask you again. Please give what you can.

£4 - helps us take a call from someone struggling to cope

£20 - helps us to train a volunteer to be there at 4am in the morning when no-one else is up

£45 - keeps our Central London Branch open for an hour
