Relay For Life Rossendale 2025 · 5 July 2025 ·
Our names are Paige, Lola and Isla.
We are taking part in the Relay for Life in honour of our granddads, Richard and John.
Even though we didn’t get to spend as much time with them as we would’ve liked, we miss them deeply and carry their love with us every day. They were both taken by cancer — one of the most heartbreaking and cruel illnesses. Cancer doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed; it steals precious moments from families and friends. It takes away laughter, hugs, and time that can never be replaced.
Watching someone go through cancer is incredibly hard. The treatments are tough — from losing hair to losing strength — and not everyone is able to go through chemotherapy, depending on the type or stage of the cancer. Sometimes, there’s just nothing that can be done, and that’s a reality too many people face.
We’re walking this relay with hope in our hearts — hope that more awareness will lead to more research, and that one day, fewer families will have to say goodbye too soon. Every step we take is for our granddads, and for everyone touched by this disease. We’re proud to be part of something bigger, and we thank you for supporting us on this journey.
What is Relay for Life?
Relay for Life is a fundraising event organised by Cancer Research UK to bring communities together in the fight against cancer. Teams take turns walking around a track for 24 hours to honour those we’ve lost, celebrate survivors, and raise money for life-saving cancer research. It’s a powerful event filled with hope, remembrance, and the determination to beat cancer for good.
