Hey everyone! This June, I will be attempting to climb the 3 highest peaks in the UK: Mount Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis. This will be my first hike and I’m very excited to be taking part in it. My challenge is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF), a charity which aims to research and raise awareness of Meningitis and Septicaemia. Meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, affecting more than 2.8 million people every year. It can kill you within 12 hours and is responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined. The MRF is working to provide better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis. Meningitis Research Foundation is at the heart of the initiative to defeat meningitis by 2030 and the expert task force that the World Health Organisation have put together to tackle the disease.
