My name is Daniel(Xinwei) Qian, and I am embarking on an extraordinary mission to run the London Marathon 2024 for Spinal Research.

Someone sustains a spinal cord injury every four hours in the UK. Living with an SCI often means a lifetime of health and care costs, as well as the threat of secondary healthcare complications. Spinal Research is the UKs leading medical charity focused on the repair and restoration of the spinal cord, and we exist to beat paralysis. Spinal Research do not receive governmental funding; all projects are funded by donations. With your help, we can #BeatParalyis.

This journey is much more than just a marathon; it symbolizes my determination to rise from the ashes after a life-changing car accident during cycling last November. This accident resulted in two fractures in my spine, specifically in C5 and the occipital condyle. My recovery was a grueling and arduous journey. It demanded every ounce of strength and resilience within me. Through intensive therapy and rehabilitation, I started to witness remarkable progress. I was finally back on my feet and my running track, and finished Tokyo marathon and Boston marathon back to back eariler this year within 3 hours.
