Story

On Thursday 24 December we will be completing a ridiculous amount of exercises to raise as much as we can for the Ashford Volunteer Centre.

The AVC, via its pool of local volunteers, offer services aimed to relieve
social isolation and reduce loneliness
. Loneliness is a huge issue at all
times, but during lockdown, connecting and supporting those lonely and most vulnerable in our communities has bought this work to the fore.

“The chances are we’ve all be affected by loneliness, either directly or
through someone close to us. We can all do more to try and make a difference and make our country a less lonely place”
Minister for Loneliness, Baroness Diana Barran.

We all need other people, but not everyone has someone.

AVC's Befriending service supports and co-ordinates volunteers who give up their time freely to provide regular companionship for someone who is lonely or isolated.

Any money we raise can help recruit, train and support volunteer befrienders who can ultimately save lives.

As a family we’ve seen first-hand the positive effects that the AVCs services have on those who need them and would be so grateful if you
could help us in supporting them. Anything you can donate would be so very welcome!

So, in the hope of earning some of your spare change we will be spending our Christmas Eve smashing out the exercises listed below.

We’ll be dressed in Christmas outfits too! However, Stewart says he’s only going to wear a Santa hat but has agreed that if we can raise £100 or more before 9am Thursday, he’ll do his exercises in the full Santa costume!
