Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

  • Every seven seconds the Samaritans responds to a call for help
  • There were 6,859 suicides in the UK and Republic of Ireland in 2018
  • The highest suicide rate in the UK, and England, is among men aged 45-49
  • Two in five men aged 20-59 don't seek support when they need to, because they prefer to solve their own problems

And the pandemic is only exacerbating the mental health challenges faced by many, with financial worries, increased isolation and uncertainty about the future creating unsustainable levels of stress and anxiety.

That's why I wore fancy dress in 2020 and am continuing in 2021. I want to continue showing the local community they are not alone, that there is help and support available, and that they can get through the difficult times ahead. I also want to continue raising money to support the North Herts Samaritans, based in my home town, Hitchin.

If you’re able to donate and wish to do so, I’d appreciate it. If not, then just follow me on Twitter, LinkedIn or Instagram to see my festive outfits (@nicholasjemetta).
