Royal Parks Half Marathon 2022 · 9 October 2022 ·

Dravet Syndrome UK is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults living with Dravet Syndrome through medical research, education and awareness and appropriate support.

Story

On 9th October
2022 our team of runners from XTX Markets will take part in the Royal Parks
Half Marathon, raising money for Dravet Syndrome UK, one of our corporate
charities.

Our runners - Oli John, Gary Murphy, Jonny Dowe, Harry Cohen, Olly Mitchell, Richard Evans, Alex Root and Jeremy Flahaut – are asking for your support to spur them on to the finish line of this 13.1 mile route through the centre of London.

We’re aiming to raise £5000 for Dravet Syndrome UK, a charity close to our
hearts.
XTX will also match money raised with a 1:1.5x ratio.

Oli, who is taking part, is Dad to 14-year-old Arlo who lives with Dravet
Syndrome.

He said “The condition affects every aspect of his life. He has seizures every
night and has severe intellectual disability (he functions at the level of a 2
year old). In his early years Arlo was often in and out of hospital, suffering
many seizures, some lasting more than two hours. For most Dravet families we go
to bed with the fear that our loved one won't wake from their sleep due to the
prevalence of sudden unexplained death in epilepsy. The condition is isolating
to live with and frequently bewildering.”

Your donations enable Dravet Syndrome UK to improve the lives of those affected
by Dravet Syndrome through support, education and medical research. They
couldn’t do what they do without the generosity of all those who fundraise for
them and every single person who donates. Thank you for sponsoring us!

Dravet Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that encompasses
treatment-resistant epilepsy, intellectual disability and a spectrum of
associated conditions (known as ‘comorbidities’), which may include autism,
ADHD, behaviours that challenge and difficulties with speech, mobility, eating
and sleep. You can find out more about Dravet Syndrome and the work of Dravet
Syndrome UK by visiting their website at www.dravet.org.uk
