Story
Alcohol has often been a big part of my social life for almost 25 years - does it need to be?
As with any given year, there is much to celebrate.. weddings, milestones, reunions, achievements. Can I be deliberate about when, how much and why I choose to drink alcohol?
The challenge: A change in mindset and habit... One year alcohol free, with 15 days' "grace" (and not to excess) for those milestones, reunions and achievements along the way.
I'll be keeping notes of the experience in a journal and believe it'll have a significant impact on spiritual, emotional and physical aspects of life.
For any day (15 maximum) I do choose to have a drink, I'll be donating $100 to Homelessness NSW. If you choose to have a drink with me, have a think as to whether you want to donate a few quid too (but no expectation). At the end of the year, you should expect to see at least $1500 in this account and, if not, feel free to nudge me... keep me accountable.
Here's a little insight into the crisis of homelessness in Australia and something I am soberly considering as responsibility for this rests on the shoulders of everyone, especially if we've been dealt the better cards..
