Hi Everyone,

As most of you know my dad (RIP) passed away from a Heart Attack in his sleep last year. It was a massive shock to my family and I. We found out that he had Heart Disease (which he had for many years) and unfortunately no one knew about.

I’ve decided to support a charity called Hearts for Heart. Hearts for Heart raises awareness of Heart Disease and the following: 

• Provide one-on-one support
• Provide online forums and a virtual community for cardiac patients, families and friends
• Provide assistance to adolescents with their transition into adult hospitals
• Remove the sense of isolation resulting in members living a healthier and happier life
• Respond and seek to resolve cardiac related enquiries for our members
• Offer resources and education aimed at preventing hospitalisation
• Provide information on managing anxiety and depression
• Co-ordinate National support and network groups
• Raise awareness about heart disease in young people
• Provide accurate information from medical experts
• Provide information about research programs our members may wish to be involved in
• Advocacy via increased awareness of the issues faced by people with heart disease
• Host events aimed at engaging members and advocacy

Statistics on Heart Disease:

• Heart disease kills 1 Australian every 11 minutes
• 6 children are born every day with a heart condition
• Heart disease affects two out of three families
• Heart disease prevents 1.4 million people from living a full life
• 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will develop heart disease

The statistics are pretty scary… 

As most of you know I’m turning 35 on the 16th of June. I want to do something a little different this year for my birthday. This year I don’t want presents please. However would love if you can all open your hearts and donate a minimum of $5 to this charity that is close to my heart.
