We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

I was completely oblivious to the serious side effects of having a mental illness, little did I know that it would end up taking one of my closest friends. Suicide is the biggest killer of men between 20 and 49, 90% of these deaths is down to the dark cancer that is mental illness.

With medical intervention, it is thought that most, if not all cases of mental illness are curable or at the least manageable. The shocking fact is that despite mental health issues contributing to a quarter of health problems in the UK it only receives 13% of the NHS budget.

Olly was the person that made everyone feel good, he put so much time and effort in to making others happy whilst all along he was battling with his own problems. Instead of making everyone else’s lives better he needed help with his, this is why I’ve decided to choose CALM as my charity, their aim is to help men in similar situations and prevent male suicide in the UK.

Suicide is a huge killer but it is an untalked about killer, help me and others create more awareness and prevent young males from living miserably by donating to CALM.
