5am "Mummy what is 9546 times 6?". My 6 year old and 8 year old boys are exceptional. Every day they surprise me with their different take on life, their kindness and their ability to solve maths equations quicker than I can type it into a calculator. But every day they face big challenges that are hidden to most, from making friends to focusing on a question when every tiny noise is screaming at you.
6 months ago, Autism Hampshire contacted me and asked if I'd like to join a course on Autism Awareness. This changed everything. I finally understood why my son was tearing up his bedroom after what seemed like a normal day at school. Why he would scream when a motorbike went past, bounce on the spot or disappear into a game of Minecraft for hours. With Autism Hampshire's help we changed our whole approach to parenting our boys and they are now thriving.
This takes a massive toll on me, mentally and physically as I have a health issue which drains my energy. So the thought of trying to carve out time in a hectic life to run made me balk. But, I started running and it genuinely brings me joy. So I'm pushing myself to run the 10 miles for me and to give back to Autism Hampshire to transform more families like ours. Your donation will help people immensely xxxx
