Story
Yateley Industries for the Disabled is a charity that supports people with disabilities and our aim is to encourage each individual to fulfil his our her own potential, both at work and at home. We achieve this by providing paid, meaningful employment in our supported workshop or charity shop and assisted accommodation where desirable. We employ up to 85 people with disabilities and provide adapted accommodation for up to 48 residents on site. Sadly, small charities are facing significant financial pressures, and we are no exception.
I am the CEO at Yateley Industries and have been overwhelmed by the amount staff have coped during this last challenging year.
I had a minor amputation a couple of years ago and the staff at Yateley were the reason I coped with the change so well. Seeing how resilient and adaptable the team is amazes me on a daily basis and makes me even more committed to the role I undertake.
I run for fun but the furthest I have ever run is a half marathon so I have taken on this challenge to raise money to enable us to build a better charity that can continue to provide support to the amazing staff.
I plan to run the Virtual London Marathon on 3rd October completing the final few miles at Yateley itself so I would be really grateful for any support people can give to encourage me to complete this challenge
