Help us eradicate Polio!
Polio is a disease which affected multitudes of people, only a few decades ago. It can cause paralysis and an inability to breathe independently. This year to date, 12 people have contracted polio worldwide (in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo). Rotary is pushing what is hopefully the final push towards eradicating Polio worldwide.
In Britain, Rotary is organising a 'Grand Tour' (starting on Monday) to raise awareness about Polio and to raise funds towards eradicating it around the world. Rotary District 1200 (Rotary in Somerset and adjacent parts of Dorset and Wiltshire) is represented in this; here is the Yeovil Rotary entry. District 1200 is also manning a checkpoint at the Haynes International Motor Museum.
A number of people have seen the car and asked about Rotary and Polio already.
I am driving c. 1,500 miles around England, Scotland and Wales through 25 checkpoints during the event.
Please sponsor the Yeovil Rotary entry into the Grand Tour in Aid of Polio Eradication.
Please support, if you can. For every £1 you donate, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will add another £2!
