OSCAR's PBTC was set up in memory of Oscar Hughes, a 9-year-old who died of a brain tumour in 2014. His journey was heartbreaking yet inspiring. OSCAR's aims to provide support and care to children with brain tumours, raise awareness to help diagnosis and fund research into better treatments.

Story

This weekend, we will be running a 24-hour relay in two teams to raise money for OSCAR's.  Come rain or shine - and through the night - each of us will pick ourselves up for 'a few'* 8km (5-mile) laps of Bramham Park.

YHEC's staff voted for OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity as our charity of the year for 2022.  OSCAR’s exists to support and care for children facing brain tumours, to raise awareness of children’s brain tumours and to fund new research to drive down diagnosis time, increase survival rate and improve children’s quality of life during and after treatment.  It was set up in memory of Oscar Hughes from York but exists to serve any child, anywhere in the UK having to deal with life with a brain tumour.

*Probably four or five laps each, depending on our speed!
