I am a Yoga Teacher and each term I hold a Charity Week where I donate all class fees and extra donations to either Action Breaks Silence or The Royal Marsden, alternating between the two charities each term.
Action Breaks Silence is an amazing charity, established to create a world where women and girls can live their lives free from fear of sexual or gender-based violence. To date, it has trained over 44,000 women, girls and boys in India, South Africa, the Caribbean and the UK free of charge. ABS educates and empowers women & girls - teaching them practical, potentially life-saving self defence skills. They also educate boys - to help prevent future violent or abusive behaviour. The charity also works within communities to train adults to become trainers - to continue the good work once the UK team has returned home and have also set up programmes within schools across the world.
This is an incredible charity founded by a local karate teacher, Debi Steven whose club my daughter trained with for many years. Debi has recently won the "Inspirational Role Model of the Year" award - huge congratulations and much deserved!
