My name is Indira Vasantlal Thakker and I have vowed to walk to St Mary’s church and back on a daily basis irrespective of the weather for the whole year leading up to my 85th birthday which is in March.

On the rare occasion when I haven’t been able to do it, I have made up for it the following day by making the journey twice.

I was partly inspired by the amazing Captain Sir Tom Moore .

I would like to raise money for the local church as it is the nearest place of worship to me and is visible from my bedroom window. When I sit down for my daily prayers, I have a lovely view of the church tower. The church serves the local community and plays a vital role in supporting individuals who are in need.

During lockdown sadly it was required to close its doors but has since re-opened them. I felt that it would be great to support its ongoing  work within the community.

I started this endeavour 7 months ago, on my 84th birthday. It has been challenging at times, but my determination to support this special cause has allowed me to put my heart and “sole” into it.

 I would be delighted if I can raise £850 in light of my 85th birthday therefore small contributions would be most welcome.
