Yolanda's Mizuno Marathon - Amsterdam

Mizuno Marathon - Amsterdam · 19 October 2014
As some of you may know, in May 2013 I had a serious incident involving a hairdryer (yes, I wish I had a better story!) which burnt my left leg and left hand leaving me with 3rd degree burns requiring several operations. This included skin grafts and my pinky sown into my stomach for 3 weeks (yes really, try and put on a bra like that or shave your legs, you really do learn to multi task...), and tendon reconstruction.
I have just had my (hopefully) last operation and am requiring weekly physiotherapy to enable me to use my hand as best as possible and I will be able to grip things much better (unlucky for some people). I have been incredibly fortunate to have had an amazing team of surgeons, nurses and physiotherapists to help me along the way, through the good times - I loved playing pranks on the nurses and sleeping like a log and the bad times - a reaction against a patch after one of the operation-even a hangover is no where near that sickness!
So to show my appreciation I would like to raise money by running a half marathon which will be held in Amsterdam on the 19th October. I'm terrified as I'm not a runner, come to think of it I probably look more like 'Phoebe from Friends' Oh dear what have I let myself in for? Either way I will do it as I am determined to raise this money for the people who changed my life and gave me hope again to show my scars with pride. As the saying goes 'Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I'm possible'
