Those of you who know me or who have recently seen me will laugh at the thought of me trying to lug my triple belly up three mountains in one day. And to be honest I had to think long and hard about taking up this challenge (which was itself quite tormenting) but when I thought about the difficulties so many women HHUGS support face trying to raise children on their own, I realised that this trek is literally a stroll in the park. 

Nevertheless, it is a symbol of the challenges these women face having to raise young children on their own without their husbands in their lives. HHUGS works to empower such women by taking them by their hand and guiding them up the steep mountains in their lives, helping them navigate through the numerous obstacles along the way. Through the funding of services such as driving lessons, financial management courses, English lessons and vocational training, in addition to emotional support and counselling, HHUGS ensures that these vulnerable women and their children and are able to regain their strength and get back on their own two feet. 

Trekking up the Yorkshire Three Peaks will be a real struggle for me personally but at the end of the day, I have a choice. These women do not. They continue to struggle in silence every single day.
