We campaign, support and fund research to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

On Friday 22nd May we were given the devastating news that my Dad had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer that had spread to his Liver. We are in no way giving up and we will not stop fighting this horrible disease. Despite being told that the cancer is at stage 4 and that no treatment will help, my Dad has decided to fight back and give chemotherapy a try. It might not get rid of the cancer but it will hopefully stop the spread and allow him to live happily for longer. The heartbreaking reality of the situation is that if this was diagnosed earlier, the spread could have been halted.

We have therefore decided to take on The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on Sunday 16th August 2020 in an attempt to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK. The challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent (694m; 2,227 ft), Whernside (736 m; 2415 ft) and Ingleborough (723m; 2,372ft) in less than 12 hours! The total walking distance is 39.2km (24.5 miles).

We are aiming high and going for a fundraising target of £1000! This would help so many people so if you can help out and donate then we would be extremely grateful, no matter how large or small the donation is.

Bowel Cancer UK are the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to the best treatment and care.

9 in 10 people will survive Bowel Cancer IF they are diagnosed early enough. We hope that raising money for this incredible charity will help to ensure that people are educated to look out for the signs and symptoms of Bowel Cancer and if someone does realise they have those signs and symptoms, to ensure that they have timely access to diagnostic tests so that it can be picked up and treated before it's too late. This cancer can be beaten but it is so important that we pick it up early!

Due to the common signs and symptoms of the disease, many people are too nervous or embarrassed to get medical help. This is something that needs to change. This will only change with educating people so that they know it is okay to get checked out and to never be ashamed of going to see your GP if you have concerns.

£10 could help give people with bowel cancer the information and advice they need.

£30 could fund an hour of our lifesaving research.

£50 could help us run events so people affected by bowel cancer can meet and support each other

We would like to thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity, every single penny counts! xx
