The Clipper 2017 -18 Round the World Yacht Race will start at the end of August 2017 and return almost a year later - at 40,000 miles it’s the world’s longest ocean race.
Having never sailed before I have been accepted to join as a amateur crew member and will be sailing across the North Atlantic on their last leg back to the UK on a 70ft yacht covering over 4000nm.
I am now in intense training with Clipper and Scarborough Yacht Club.
Its been my ambition to take on this challenge for 5 years partly driven by the fact I work in the Seafood Industry and only hear about the risk and challenges taken on by the fishermen who bring our seafood back to the table.
