On Monday 28th May, I and a select group of mature (and probably mad) golfers from York Golf Club will play as many holes as is physically, and mentally, possible from dawn to dusk to raise funds for York Against Cancer.

Those mad enough to have signed up for the challenge are Ralph Magee, Steve Leveson, Peter Burnett, Peter Smith, Sean Kelly, Alan Hunter, David Walsh and John Donaldson.

 

For 25 years YAC has worked with healthcare professionals to improve the lives of cancer patients in York and the surrounding area including the funding of specialist oncology nurses, the establishment of a Cancer Care Centre and more recently providing free transport to and from Leeds for those patients requiring radiotherapy; providing education packs for local schools and producing educational supplements in the local newspaper; funding research at the Jack Birch Laboratories at The University of York.

2012 sees the launch of its 'Silver Celebration Appeal' which I am delighted to support.
