Bismillah, WaSalaatu WaSalamu 'Ala Rasulillah,
As-Salaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu my dearest brothers and sisters.
We pray this message finds you all in the best of health and upon the very highest peaks of piety. Ameen.
This Eid saw the launch of the 1 Eid Project; an attempt to bring Eid to life in the lives of the Muslims in London. We witnessed over 10,000 people attending the magnificent Eid prayer and celebrations which span over two days. Never before had London seen such an event unfold. An event for the Muslims, organised by Muslims, on the day of Eid.
The brothers and sisters who attended this amazing event are now part of history. Inshallah we hope with the help of the Muslim Ummah to continue for years to come making Eid progressively bigger and better.
This is not our event. This is
YOUR EVENT and
YOUR EID. We are anticipating greater crowds for the next coming Eid and need your help to make your Eid happen.
The Eid Celebration Committee (ECC) is a unique venture set up byAl Fitrahto provide a fun filled activity event for the celebrations of Eid 2007 and for upcoming Eid celebrations in the years to come. Not only will we be hosting an event for the Muslim community of Greater London, but we shall be forging lasting ties with the wider community all of whom will be invited to partake in this auspicious celebration.
Islamic Help are supporting Al Fitrah, who will be taking this day to a new level again this time insha’Allah; bringing together all members of the Muslim (and indeed non-Muslim) community of London and neighboring vicinities together - we will be hosting a single mass Eid prayer followed by a spectacular day of festivities for families, individuals, young and old alike. Seizing on the dawah potential of such a large congregation of Muslims, we shall encourage everybody to invite their non-Muslim neighbours, colleagues, counterparts and friends in order to witness the strength of a united body of Muslims converging together for a mutual auspicious purpose.
When Eid salah was enjoined upon the Muslims at the time of our Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him), the entire community would gather together in the
court yard and pray as one body, bowing and prostrating to Allah Subhanahu wata’ala, united in their worship. Today, alhamdu lillah, we have thousands of Muslims all over London praying Eid Salah in their local masajid, but how beautiful would it be if we were to all gather together in one place.
1 Eid started off as a dream that many of us shared. A few of us had the initiative to take action to make it happen. In the history of Muslims in London, we have only developed so far. One major flaw is that we have yet to establish our mark on the community like the Jews and Christians have. We need to show that we are here united and make a positive stand for Islam.
Eid is the festival of the Muslims, a day to show and celebrate who we are. We no longer wish for our children to be bored on Eid day, or have nothing to look forward to. An atmosphere of celebration and excitement should be established. We no longer wish for our women to remain in the homes, cooking all day, and not being able to receive the blessing of the Eid prayer. We no longer wish for our Masajid to fight over what day Eid is on; causing and forcing families, friends and communities to split and be disunited on the day of Eid.
1 Eid has 3 aims:
1. To revive the sunnah of our beloved prophet by taking the Eid prayer outside of the Masjid, open to every Muslim, young and old, rich or poor, man our women. We wish to revive the forgotten sunnah of our beloved prophet and celebrate Eid the way he (SAW) celebrated it. 2. To unite the Muslims on the day of Eid, of all backgrounds and ethnicities, building relations in the community with one another, showing we are one Ummah in front of Allah on His day.
3. Restoring the future faith of our children, by taking away the confusion of Eid not being celebrated on the
day of Eid but 2 weeks later! As well as providing them with a festival they can look forward to, enjoy and appreciate without reaching out to other festivals such as Christmas and Easter.
We asked the people and they spoke loud and clear
“WE WANT 1 EID AND WE WANT TO CELEBRATE IT TOGETHER ON EID DAY!” now it is up to us the community to answer our own call.
We are
rapidly approaching the next Eid and need your help to raise the funds to host such a spectacular event. Just a
minimum of £10 donation from everyone your friends and families will ensure that next Eid will happen with your help we can reach our target and give the Muslims in London the Eid they deserve. share in the epic reward of reviving an all but lost Sunnah and uniting the community of Muslims on a day meant for nothing other than unity.
Be a part of history in the making , be a part of this glorious ummah and be a part of 1 Eid.
