Story
I have been volunteering for the last 2 years with "Youth Link Dundee", who are a small local kids charity providing support and positive life experiences to disadvantaged children of Dundee. The charity are in great need of some financial assistance after suffering a drop in funding, which lead to the closure of their successful group sessions. Now, only the one-to-one befriending service remains, which is a lifeline for some of the most vulnerable children in Dundee.
These children helped by Youth Link Dundee have harrowing stories to tell. Some children have experienced the death of their parents, or have mental health issues such as depression. In some cases, a visit from their mentor is the highlight of their week, and the mentors may be the only positive role model in their lives. We as volunteers take the kids on social outings, allowing them to enjoy their childhood, and helping them work through their problems that go on in their day to day lives.
In order to raise funds for Youth Link, I will be completing a 46 mile cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh - which is a pretty tough challenge! It's done in the hope that you'd be able to help with a donation, which will go a long way to sustaining the excellent work that Youth Link does as a charity.
Thanks in advance for helping!
