Story

The Yukon 1000 is the world’s longest paddle race and is totally unsupported, meaning we have to carry all of our own kit, including all the food (in a bear barrel) we will need for 10 days, but we aim to complete the race in 8 days. We will canoe 1000 miles from Whitehorse in Canada along the River Yukon, up into the Arctic and finishing in Alaska.

We are really excited about this challenge, particularly as it is going to test our physical and mental resilience, as well as my friendship with Nick. Luckily Nick and I are good friends from our time in the Yorkshire Regt, hence the name Fortune Favours The Brave, which links into the magnitude of this incredible challenge.

YPI Counselling is an amazing small charity that I am a passionate supporter of, who’s purpose is to provide much needed and under resourced counselling for young people and their families across Basingstoke & Deane who suffer with issues ranging from crippling anxiety to recovering from the psychological damage caused by all types of abuse. YPI has also launched an exciting and successful mentoring programme.
