Story
This year again I'm challenging myself. On the 7th of April I'm going to walk 34 Miles (55.5 km) across the Three Lochs Way in Scotland in a day to support Kids Care Charity.
There are over 4,000 children living in institutions across Bulgaria. More than 90% of those children are not orphans, they have been driven into care homes because they are poor, disabled or from an ethnic minority. Children living in institutions are regularly under fed, neglected and as a result many suffer from lifelong physical and emotional harm.
Last year Kids Care Charity started two new contracts and one new partnership. The Charity now supports children in eight municipalities (Varna, Pleven, Targovishte, Smolyan, Sevlievo, Veliko Tarnovo, Kotel and Sofia). Donations support more than 80 families with over 120 children who live in extreme poverty, to meet their basic needs of food supplies, medicines, home care products, school meals, specialist medical care.
The families receive counselling and assistance with completing the necessary documentation to obtain medical assistance, child benefits and other State support. Kids Care Charity has also hired a new partner in addition to its existing collaboration with Sauchastie to work actively with local schools, medical centres and communities in order to identify more families and children at risk who can benefit from the financial support and counselling provided.
Poverty is not a crime and I believe that every child needs a family and a safe home where to grow up and develop, surrounded by love, laughs and care.
Thank you for your kind support and generosity.
