Story

I Yvette Radcliffe have decided to face my fears of heights and do a skydive for Claire House.

I am doing this in memory of mine and my partner Terry's daughter Lily.

In July 2019, I was a happily pregnant mother, expecting our 2nd little girl. We were waiting to have our sexing scan to tell us whether we were having a boy or a girl...feeling excited.

We were told during the scan that our baby had inverted feet and they booked me in to see a specialist. Going over it in our head thinking it's fine, so common right. It came to the day of my specialist scan, half an hour had past, we were told to take a walk whilst he scanned his 2nd patient and come back to carry on with mine.

Me thinking..oh it's probably to get the baby into a different position.

We went back, after 10 minutes, we heard the words from his mouth that this wasn't going to be an easy conversation, my world fell apart, I was inconsolable.

He told us that our baby had a life limiting and life threatening condition, she was unable to move (which explained why I hadn't felt her kick) she had fluid on her lungs, around her head, and under parts of her skin.

I was referred to the womens and children's in Liverpool for a second opinion...an anxious wait.

That day came eventually, it seemed like a lifetime.

It was confirmed by another specialist.

They said if I was to carry full term, I'd more than likely lose her naturally, if I was to give birth at full term, she would struggle and wouldn't survive for any length of time.

We were going to lose our baby no matter what.

We couldn't watch a baby struggle knowing I couldn't do anything about it, I couldn't give false hope of life.

On the 28th of July we made the most painful, but selfless decision of our lives...Lilys heart was stopped...

I was 6 months gone.

This way, she wouldn't struggle, she would be none the wiser and she'd be with her mummy. Watching on a screen, tore me up to the point of throwing up.

I was taken in 2 days later for Labour. Lily was born on the 1st of August at 6.25am.

A beautiful baby girl.

Because this is possibly genetic having happened to my mum, my nan and my dad, a full post mortem was agreed, if anything good was going to come from such a tragic event, it'd be answers for my daughter and future generations, god forbid it ever happened to them.

This skydive is taking place on the 4th of July, Lily would have been 1yrs old.

This is in memory of a little girl that sadly was too precious to walk this earth.

Lily was buried on the 30th of August
