Story
Yippee. I have today reached my target of 100 miles running for Marie Curie. It’s taken me 73 days. I can now do a 5K so I have made some progress ! And I am out for short runs about three times a week. It’s certainly enhanced my fitness and the weather has been beautiful. Hoping to inspire others. Thanks to my nursing colleagues for all your wonderful support. Remembering, with much love , our mad moments
Ribble Valley Marie Curie Fundraising Group are delighted to announce that our committee member , Yvonne Carter , is running a marathon to raise much needed funds for Marie Curie nurses. These nurses support the NHS by taking care of patients in hospices and in their own homes . Lockdown doesn’t mean not running a marathon to Yvonne ! Not having done any running for many years , she is dusting off the running shoes and jogging around her garden ! How brilliant is that ! It’s 754 laps around her lawn , 7 laps = 400 metres. The marathon is 42,195 metres or 26.2 miles.
April 4 th to May 1st is 28 days. Her target is £1000 to help the depleted funds of the Marie Curie charity during lockdown.
Yvonne is a retired nursing sister, who has vast experience and knowledge of how important quality end of life care is. Many of Yvonne’s family work on the frontline of the NHS.
Please please help Yvonne achieve her goal. It costs £20 an hour to fund a Marie Curie nurse.
Thanking you all for your thoughts and help.
