Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Like many people, I have spent much time outdoors during the Covid-19 crisis. As a result of furlough leave and redundancy, I have walked more in the past year than in any other year I can think of.

And like many people, I feel I could do with a new challenge in 2021, something positive to achieve rather than just surviving the challenges of the pandemic. Walking seems like the obvious choice.

The Thames also seems like an obvious choice. By accident rather than design, I have lived close to the Thames for much of my life - growing up in Kingston Upon Thames, at University in Reading, early adult life near Windsor and Maidenhead and now close to Kingston again. Over the years I have walked various stretches of the river. I have enjoyed drinking by it in Putney, in Henley on Thames, and many places in between! My Dad's life has been intimately connected with the Thames through his lifelong involvement with the Sea Cadets. What better way to connect all those experiences than to complete the challenge to walk the 100km from Putney to Henley!

Now that I'm working for Moorfields Eye Hospital, the third obvious choice is to fundraise for Moorfields Eye Charity. I do hope you will support me - and Moorfields Eye Charity - in this endeavour.
