Story
About 4 years ago i got involved with World Jewish Relief, i am now a trustee. My family were originally Berliners who escaped in 1938. WJR at the time assisted many similar families in escaping and settling in the UK. Today it is a modern and humanitarian Charity that i am incredibly proud to be a part of.
Their work extends to our Jewish Community in the former Soviet Union many of whom live in hopeless poverty and suffer a severe lack of life chances. We also represent the British Jewish Community in global disasters by raising emergency funds to assist at short notice, WJR is a safeguard to ensure that our community is doing our bit abroad. Finally WJR is committed to helping others irrespective of their faith or creed that find themselves in similar situations to that of our ancestors, when we had to escape and flee countries that systematically persecuted us for who we were and what we believed in.
I am participating in this event to support WJR and of course honour the history of the Kindertransport. One of the many escapes Jews have unfortunately had to make over their history.
* I would like to note that all my personal expenses, flights, accommodation and any support on this trip will be paid for by myself. All donations will go directly to the Charity.
