Story

Will (Zachary's dad) is running the London marathon to help raise money for the fantastic charity NANSA who have been supporting our son, Zachary, through their Conductive Education sessions for just over a year now.

Zachary was born premature and at 11 weeks old suddenly became very unwell. Tests at our local hospital showed multiple brain abscesses and pneumococcal meningitis. He was transferred to Addenbrookes where we spent the next 7 weeks. At the end of our 1st week in Addenbrookes Zachary suffered several big seizures, a stroke and his condition was worsening. Against the odds Zachary pulled through but needed 2 brain surgeries, one for an external ventricular drain and the other for a permanent shunt to drain fluid from his brain as the meningitis had left scarring on his membranes.

Zachary faces ongoing difficulties and medical needs but with the support of NANSA over the last year he is making progress such as starting to walk using a walking frame.

We would love to raise as much money as possible to help support this amazing charity who continue to help us and many other families who have children with additional needs.
