Story
In late February next year I'm embarking on a 9 day charity expedition to climb Kilimanjaro, the world's highest free standing mountain at 19300ft tall. That's just slightly higher than Everest base camp.
During the trip we will travel through 5 different ecosystems, walk vertically upwards over 5km and push through the challenges of altitude sickness.
I'm doing this in part for a personal challenge but also in support of an exciting and inspiring new charity, 'Becoming X' set-up by a colleague at Accenture. Becoming X has been set-up to help young people all around the world build the skills and confidence they need to help realise their full potential. They have an ambitous objective to help improve the confidence of 100m people and build the skills of 1m people.
The principle of what Becoming X is seeking to achieve is underpinned by the belief that "Great people aren't born great, they become it". Becoming X will be showcasing interviews with some of the most inspiring people alive today in collaboration with Unicef, Enactus and One Young World.
By sponsoring me, the money raised will be helping Becoming X:
- Deliver skills sessions to 5000+ children
- Launch a global skills platform
- Demystify success via 10 celebrity showcase videos
Additionally through their partnerships you will also be supporting:
- Unicef to deliver 30,000 exercise books to 150 schools
- Enactus to fund a global competition for 80,000 students
- One Young World provide two scholorships
Becoming X is a brand new charity, so your donation will make a huge difference; you can track progress on their exicting plans at: http://www.becomingx.org
100% of your donation will go to charity.
Many thanks - Zak
