I'm running the Berlin Marathon - 26.2 miles, and my first ever marathon - to raise money for mothers in Gaza with Islamic Relief UK!

A year ago I could barely run 5k. Now I'm taking on the full 26.2 miles, and I want it to count for more than a medal: every pound you give reaches people living through unimaginable hardship. Please donate whatever you can - it means the world :)

Running didn't come easily to me. Early on it was gruelling - I struggled to focus, to keep going, and honestly to see the point of pushing myself so hard. And yet, as time went on, between running while fasting in Ramadan, reaching milestones like my first 10k and half marathon, and generally staying consistent and committed, I’ve found a love and passion in running that has had a positive impact on my life and the lives of my friends and family as well.

Alhamdulillah, this marathon is the proof of that hard work, and I wanted it to mean something beyond me.

Why Islamic Relief, and Gaza?

The healthcare system in Gaza remains under immense strain, as tens of thousands of pregnant women do not have access to safe birthing facilities, skilled medical professionals, or critical postnatal care. Many are forced to give birth in dangerous conditions, putting both mother and child at severe risk. Islamic Relief is providing urgent maternal healthcare to ensure that expectant mothers receive the medical care they need to give birth and recover safely and with dignity.

Unfortunately, many children and babies who need specialist medical care are out of options if they remain in Palestine. As a result, there is a critical need to evacuate as many children out of Palestine as possible. Islamic Relief is funding a Medical Evacuation for Children in Gaza project to cover the essential costs associated with housing and social care for the children and their carers to bring to the UK for urgent treatment.
