Story

You may not have suffered from a mental health issue in your life; but statistically someone in your life has or is dealing with one or more mental health issues. Poor mental health isn't just "feeling a bit low", it can many forms; depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, eating disorders to name a few. Literally anyone can be dealing with mental health issues. Anyone. Your parent, best friend, sibling, child, partner or even that friend you have who is always happy, In 2022, 18.0% of children aged 7 to 16 years and 22.0% of young people aged 17 to 24 years had a probable mental disorder. According to a 2017 report on the mental health of women and girls, rates of self-harm among young women have tripled since 1993 and women are more than three times as likely to experience eating disorders than men. In 2020, in the UK & Ireland there were nearly 7,000 reported suicides. Men are 3 times more likely to die by suicide than women. As the cost of living crisis leaves people struggling to cope, the UK & Ireland is facing a mental health crisis. Every 10 seconds, the Samaritans respond to a call for help. No judgement. No pressure. They are here for anyone who needs someone. Every pound donated to Team BenQ will be going to the Samaritans and the amazing work they do.
