Birmingham Marrow and Anthony Nolan are saving lives right now. But we cant do it without you. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

If you know me, you'll know that I am probably the exact polar opposite of an athlete. But, I'm more than willing to put on a pair of running shoes if it's for Anthony Nolan! (That, and also when I signed up I didn't realise how far 13.1 miles actually is)

One fact about cancer which has always stuck with me is that every individual has been affected by it, whether it be their friends, family, or themselves. I am running in memory of my late Uncle, Dr. Muzzammel, who passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and Graft Versus Host Disease.

I have been apart of an amazing and worthwhile society, Birmingham Marrow for two years. The work I've done and the experiences I've had since I've joined hold a very special place in my heart. That's why a group of us from Birmingham Marrow have decided to take up this challenge! We would love it if you supported us.

Birmingham Marrow is a part of the network of lifesaving students who work with the blood cancer charity, Anthony Nolan. There are over 50 Marrow groups, with hundreds of student volunteers (like us!) in universities across the country, who are all working towards one thing - saving the lives of people with blood cancer. Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. At Anthony Nolan, we match incredible people willing to donate their stem cells, to people with blood cancer who are in desperate need of a lifesaving transplant. Marrow now recruits one in four people who go on to donate stem cells, which means hundreds of lives are potentially saved by Marrow's incredible work. It costs £40 to add each potential lifesaver to the stem cell register. Every penny and every pound that Birmingham Marrow raises will help to continue saving the lives of people with blood cancer.
